Sam Fender has donated the entirety of his £25,000 award cash to the MVT, which works to preserve the Britain's small live music spots.
He was presented with the award on mid-October as his third album his work was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.
He has decided to give the cash to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part local spots had in his initial steps.
"I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the gigs I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," said Sam Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."
Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.
In the last year, top acts such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a small levy to their ticket costs, which benefits independent venues.
Fender also joined in, raising more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support thirty-eight grassroots venues across Britain.
These funds supported locations that were dealing with potential shutdown due to issues caused by floods, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, court cases and neighbor objections.
Other venues obtained monetary aid in improving infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted musicians and concertgoers.
"The idea that revenue from shows in major spaces supports the independent spots, where it all starts for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has stated.
He is far from the only musician to contribute his honor funds to charitable organizations.
When the band received the prize in the year 1996 for their record their work, lead singer Cocker stated that the group would contribute their cash to the non-profit the charity.
That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite divided her award among a few charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.
"I also contributed a thousand pounds to the center, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they needed better apparatus," the artist told outlets.
Previously, the band contributed their funds to the youth organization that nurtured their act, alongside other independent music bodies.
And winners that year M People gave their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was diagnosed the condition.
"Winning was quite enough," remarked vocalist Heather Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we could do without the extra, because we had the honor. So our victory affected another person's life."
Recently, the MVT announced it had rescued a couple of local spots in the South East, by placing them under community ownership.
The first in the city and the other in the city were purchased under the public acquisition scheme, which is funded by Arts Council England and music fans who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
